Maybe one of the greatest films of all time. Wow. How Arnold didn’t get the best actor nomination, I’ll never understand. Has to be one of the academy’s greatest failures of performance recognition ever. Feel good film, with action, romance, and if you seek it, wisdom beyond the comprehension of our words greatest philosophers. I could watch this movie everyday for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. 10/10, cannot recommend enough.
In every facet, a stark departure from Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, but incredibly envisioned and executed. From the changes to the backstory to the changes to the batmobile, Matt Reeves’ adaptation adjusts the lore of Batman in an incredibly unique way. The cinematography is dark and casts a somber mood on the characters and story. Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne came off as a more moody recluse than previous portrayals, however I liked the change in character. All in all, a very well done film, would highly recommend.
An incredible psychological thriller, with some elements of the horror genre as well, this film was extremely well written and directed. Kurosawa takes the audience through serious cinematic ups and downs, from intense and often graphic sequences to long scenes of soft spoken dialogue. This tactic has a much more powerful affect on viewers than cheap jump scares and jarring sounds common with this genre. While one could say it was too slow at moments, those more prolonged scenes all make sense in the end. Fantastically done and acted. Highly recommend.
