My review of the book (and Donna Tartt’s writings in general) was fairly critical for including too much and needing a stricter editor, but the movie adaptation has swung too far in the opposite direction and cut out so much that it’s left Theo a shallow, unexplored character totally lacking any and all development in comparison to the book.
