Just capital. This film felt strangely familiar throughout yet I must admit I’ve never seen nothing like it. Phenomenal acting throughout and the way the antagonist literally casts a shadow over the entire film is executed flawlessly. This movie isn’t interested in crazy twists, mind fucks or shock really for that matter. No alarms and no surprises. The plot suffers a bit from its straightforwardness, but that seems to be by design, as every detail down to the last rat feels ultra intentional.

A Gladiator II esque rendition of lord of the rings except less entertaining. Good highs, and not suffering from fan service (there were many callbacks but they were subtle enough and didn’t take you out of the story) though at its worst times downright cringey and rudderless. Still great to be back in middle earth, but missed the mark. Animation didn’t move the needle much. Plot was OK. The more I write the worse I think of it, so I’m going to stop here and just be thankful we got to return to Rohan years later.

It’s Ridley Scott, ofc it’s going to be flawed, really cool and epic.
