Really enjoyed this one. Big Jake Gyllenhaal fan so that was an added bonus. I loved the cuts between present day, the book, and the past, it really made each scene feel connected to a bigger concept.

Stressful movie. Always someone yelling over someone and the only time it was somewhat calm was the family dinner scene. Interestingly, I was rooting for Howard the whole time even though he was an asshole who fucked everyone over. Loved the KG feature and how big of a role the Celtics played. The ending was a roller coaster of emotions that seemed equally justified yet disappointing.

I’m writing this one day after watching Fight Club. It felt inappropriate to do a review immediately, as this felt like a film that needs time to sink in a little. The twist was magnificent, and the narration style made it even more of a surprise. Great movie, and some real lessons that can applied to many situations aside from jazz music. The ballsack looking guy really makes you question if he’s an antagonist or working with our protagonist. I wish we saw a little bit more of Andrew and Nicole’s story and I wish we knew a little bit more about Fletcher, but definitely got my daily dose of motivation with this film.
