Not everything about Presence works, but Soderbergh’s dedication to the stylistic choices and the committed performances from the actors make this a fascinating watch. Chris Sullivan is especially excellent in this. Soderbergh manages to create such a specific mood with this film. I wouldn’t call this a scary film, but it’s a very uncomfortable film in many aspects. It’s an engaging time, if a little but underdeveloped and underwhelming, but definitely a worthwhile experience.

I have surprisingly more to say about Opus than I was expecting. For such a slow build I don’t think the third act payoff is quite as exciting as I wish it was. It’s a well shot and put together film that is elevated by two fantastic performances from Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich but it leaves far too many questions unanswered for my liking. I did really like the ending, the note the film ends on is ominous in all the best ways. It definitely kept my attention but it feels far too derivative of films like The Menu, Blink Twice, and Midsommar.

An incredible experience. Felt like I was watching a rehearsal of a first draft script, a very bad first draft script. I can’t lie, this is one of the most unintentionally funny films I’ve ever seen. It’s filled with horrendous performances, a complete lack of chemistry between any two actors, awful editing, and the most noticeable ADR I’ve ever seen in a blockbuster (I think every line Ezekiel Sims said was dubbed over). I had a massive smile on my face for a lot of this though. It’s absolutely ridiculous and they really don’t make them like this anymore. This is a special film.

Borderline unwatchable. One of the worst big budget films I’ve ever seen. Genuinely struggling to find any redeeming qualities in this. The post-credits scenes are insulting. I could write a long review about everything wrong with this but it would literally be my longest review. Genuinely hated this.
