  Why is there always something wrong with his eyes? Poor guy's gotta be pretty sick of prosthetics.

  Love the prevalence of long shots that let the scenery do most of the talking, heavily reminiscent of Aguirre & Fitzcarraldo. Contrasts effectively with the Kubrick-esque smash cuts to prophetic visions. Definite proto-A24-core. Pacing is surprisingly good, reminded me of Tarkovsky. Given the abundance of namedrop comparisons I've just made it's perhaps predictable that I ultimately feel this film does too little to distinguish…
