Sugarcane 2024
It is without question that Sugarcane is an immediate reminder of the salience of the documentary medium and all the luck we can harness with the advent of cameras and microphones. There are moments here that are miracles. The essence of a revelation is interesting - if acted/recreated, the spirit of realization is lost to practice; if written about, the gravity of wonder is flattened by recollection; however, the miraculous act of capturing the butterfly in the net is so...special.
This is exactly what Sugarcane has accomplished.
