John Wick 2014
John Wick is a great example of a plot-focused, event-driven movie that doesn't let the pacing suffer. The action scenes are split up by slower scenes that never feel out of place. The choreography of the action scenes is among the best in cinema and makes every scene feel brutal and real, in addition to showing the care taken in the creation of the film. The action scenes also never feel samey or repetitive and certainly don't drag, which is not something that could be said about the second and third movies in the series.

This movie is well paced, with a good mix of well-shot action scenes and slower character-driven scenes. The music selection and usage are both above average, but the dialogue often contains awkward pauses, possibly meant to make the main character seem more mysterious. The action scenes feel quick and brutal, which adds a feeling of realism. The plot is serviceable, although it becomes a little confusing why characters make the decisions they do towards the end.
