  There is a GOOD way to make pretentious intellectual self-jerks. This is a perfect example of it. I dont mind if Godard wants to brag about how cute he can get with his philo degree and hard copy of Schopenhauer or how much of an underdog subverter he is (the film was an immediate success lol)

  it's a spectacle for sure,

  Dennis edges us with a minute or two of Paul actually feeling the 'heat' of Arrakis, it is not just sand and orange tint: This place is malignantly hostile, and the best you could hope for is the silent shade of a date tree. Nothing 'civilised' makes it out, nothing civilised could.
  The pleasures are basic; water, shelter, and prayer. And then we get right back to Arrakis being the 'sand planet' that has some…
