wow. such an interesting film. at first i was unsure and honestly a bit uncomfortable with their relationship dynamic.
it wasn’t until i started to understand how their dynamic helped her confidence and growth that i recognise that both love and sex have unconventional ways of supporting a person. shainberg does a wonderful job at capturing this too.
this film successfully demonstrates the complexities of power dynamics and what role they play in different aspects of a persons life.

i don’t know what it is about this film and its segments. each experience is hard but it feels soft to the touch. it is realistic about what we go through in life and approaches human experience with sincerity and depth. each segment is reflective of remarkable aspects of life and the never ending emotions that life offers - whether that be love, loss, fear, doubt and/or existentialism. i love the little names of each segment too
