Family Romance, LLC 2019
Even though I know this movie is imperfect, I think about it and return to it all the time. It’s hard not to feel like Herzog wanted MUBI to fund his vacation to Japan, so he improvised a cheap and loose script in order to save extra money for the hedgehog cafe. I love how bad the acting of the untrained actors is—it swings all the way back around to being outstanding a lá the horseshoe theory. Highly recommend to anyone who’s ever wanted to travel with Werner, or be reminded of the joys of a hand-held video camera.
