Venom 2018
I do love a good origin story. Venom is a character I'm not terribly familiar with, but the portrayal here as a sort of anti-hero is wonderful. Tom Hardy's acting is fantastic; the physical movements as Venom pulls Eddie around from within are very well done. The film's music is quite good, also, as is the motif noise of the symbiotes and the all-encompassing sound of Venom's voice. I enjoyed this film more than the first. The visual effects are improved, such as seeing moisture in the creatures' eyes and wrinkles on Knuckles's muzzle when he growls, and the comic-like flashback sections are a nice touch. I disliked the dance-off sequence (it was rather silly and slowed down the pace), but the actual music in the film is great! Sonic the Hedgehog 2020
While I've never played a Sonic game, I've absorbed enough through pop culture osmosis to know the characters and most references in the film. Jim Carrey is great as Robotnik, and the soundtrack is very good. The plot is a tad cliche at moments, I felt, but the CGI is decent and the human characters interact quite well with Sonic. Overall I enjoyed the movie!
