The Boy and the Heron 2023
Absolutely beautiful animation. Adored Robert Pattinson as the Heron. I thought the ending was a bit rushed (and why in the world does he chose to remarry his wife’s sister 😭), but besides the tiny plot holes I really enjoyed this movie. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone.

Absolutely amazing, saw this on my birthday. Honestly I left with a migraine but it was well worth it. The entire cast put on the most believable performance I’ve ever seen, and I’ve never been so invested in a bio pic in my life. I’ve seen it twice since.

I watched this with my mom, and we couldn’t help but laugh at how boring it was. The script is boring and insanely repetitive. I felt like I was just watching one extended conversation, and the constant bickering got old really fast. I also couldn’t understand why the guy on the intercom interacted with them? Was he god? If anyone can figure it out please let me know.
It was really confusing, the ending left me disappointed and searching for…

Persepolis 2007
I absolutely loved the animation style used in this movie, the utilization (and hand painting) of the grey scale throughout was absolutely incredible. It did a beautiful job of detailing Marjane’s struggles to find herself amidst war, living in a completely new country, leaving her family, and becoming a teenager (and eventually a young woman). This movie captures Marjane’s emotions extremely well, and definitely made me cry at the end.
