A poetic film reflecting on a life well lived, the beauty of solitude, and the fuzziness of memories. The backgrounds are beautifully painted, showing all the different faces the sea can have over the course of a year. The animation is soft, slow, with a fluidity that makes you want to walk by the seashore and reflect about your own life amidst the ocean sprays and the seagulls’ cries…
A wonderfully crafted piece that already has its spot in my comfort movie list 🛤️🌊

Forever one of my favorite movies
Such poetry, in the animation, in the dialogues, in the music, the story itself
    An absolute masterpiece 🤍

Just as I remembered it from seeing it at age 12, on my dad’s couch, feverish and feeling like I was hallucinating, this movie is a masterpiece of sword and sorcery. The costumes, the lighting and coloring, the simple yet incredibly effective dialogue that carries the flavor of Ser Thomas Mallory’s texts…
Its only flaw is the line delivery, that sometimes feels a little outdated.
But it is a beautiful film, one that feels like a fever dream. Helen Mirren as Morgana is incredibly enchanting, Guinevere’s wardrobe is to die for, and all the scenes set in the forest are dazzling.
