The Shawshank Redemption 1994
i finally watched this movie, and wow, i’m so glad i did. it completely blew me away. the way it explores both friendship and loneliness is so powerful. brooks’ struggle with finding his purpose outside of prison, feeling like his worth was tied to those walls, was heartbreaking. and then, when red finally gets out and goes to find andy, it just broke me. the line “hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies” hit me hard. absolute cinema.
