a historical account, a documentary more than a film. brocka is a legend for a good reason
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 holy shit
it's so special to find a film exactly when u needed to hear what it has to say 💔💔 the messages in this film are perennial and it's ironic that films Today would have a hard time taking the stances that this film did,, i love every single character on screen, from our four leading powerhouses to maggie and robert and celso and nita, such real and lived in characters played with respect and with integrity. to have a filipino female led film that is unafraid to make its heroines imperfect, vulnerable, and even "immoral" feels monumental. i love this film so much!!!!!!!
has the same structural pitfalls as similar ph films (tensions resolved in one scene suddenly forced open again in the next, build-ups to climaxes unfulfilled, rhytmic pacing sacrificed for comedic dialogue back and forths) but such a good time!! the Actual big climax scene towards the end of the film is uncomfortably long but It Works for everyone who has had to hear a family argument through thin walls ++ and vice shows off her dramatic chops so well!!
