The Boy and the Heron 2023
absolutely beautiful. the art of the scenes and cinematography were amazing and emotional, with many parts of the movie obviously being odes to princess monoke and spirited away (i could also see howls ponyo and castle in the sky). it was great to be able to see so many of these other movies i grew up watching in this movie which probably gives me a bias on liking it so much but thinking about it more after s couple days…

super interesting movie that focuses on class and food. it was interesting to see the interpretations of the crazy gastronomic menu items from the guests for people who both appreciate food a lot and not as much. there was a lot of different themes in this movie so i don’t even really know what to dive into.
