    This film had me feeling both grossed out, and intrigued for the whole duration. I found the production design to be outstanding. Between the props the actors used the whole film, the set design, the gore, was all done nicely. It all felt very plasticity at the same time, which could’ve been done on purpose, or that’s just how it ended up. I enjoyed the ending. The whole film felt very dissociative towards the end, such as what the characters…

    Ingmar Bergman’s black and white cinematography enhances the films mood, surrounding the black plaque, which alone gives off a feeling of existential dread. I found the pacing of the film to also enhance this feeling, as this film felt like it took forever to get through... The use of black and white also makes the landscapes feel both haunting and unreal. Bergman blended realism with some symbolism which created an otherworldly atmosphere where the characters were bizarre, to say the least.
