Not among Morris’s strongest work, but still pretty watchable. He’s not wrong that the enduring fascination around Manson is the mind control element (or at least, why they did it and how they could bring themselves to it & seemingly feel no remorse.) Not sure this builds enough of a case that there was a connection to a CIA experimental program in mind control and memory alteration, but it raises some good questions about whether Manson could have been set up as a disrupter as part of COMINPRO and CHAOS - state efforts to infiltrate and undermine leftist orgs in the late sixties.

Hackers 1995
This movie is ridiculous but I love it anyway. Fisher Steven’s over-the-top villain on a skateboard. The queerness of every character. The cast chemistry. The insane pillowyness of Angelina Jolie’s lips. The killer wardrobe. And the giant fucking balls on a filmmaker trying to make computer coding visually interesting and tense. Yes, the depiction of a supercomputer and code is entirely imaginary and insane but it’s also really campy and fun. Hack the planet!
