Real Steel 2011
This film is totally made of awesome. It's the sort of thing that makes me love Hollywood. Fighting robots! Adorable moppet! Robot dancing! ridiculous plot! Hunky Hugh Jackman! It might not be great art, but it was brilliant. Actually cheered aloud when the underdog came through. Shame.

The Three Musketeers 2011
I loves me some sword fighting and this 3D spectacular didn't fail to deliver. It's a fairly schlocky take on the swashbuckling tale with the odd historical inaccuracy (flying airships, anyone?) but it is what it is. No attention paid to accents and some dubious acting, it's certainly not the best version of the classic tale I've ever seen, but I had fun anyway.

Out of the Past 1947
Absolutely classic film noir - if you're looking for a truly wicked and untrustyworthy femme fatale, then Kathy is your gal. It's faintly horrifying how many cigarettes Robert Mitchum manages to smoke in this film (classic dialogue - Whit (a young Kurt Douglas) - "Cigarette?" - Jeff - "Smoking"). Cinematography is gorgeous. Beautifully lit and expressionistic. Kathy and Jeff's first kiss is under fishing nets down south of the border. Highly recommend if you're looking for a really classic but not so well known noir.
