Brutal. One of Lynch’s most interesting films because it’s about one of his least sympathetic leads - if his other movies are about innocents stumbling into the boundaries between reality and nightmare, or even seeing the beauty in a flawed person’s deluded dreams, Lost Highway sees fantasy purely as delusion and self-exculpation to hide an even uglier reality. They really made a whole movie where the plot hinges on you knowing real world details of copyright disputes between production companies AND knowing how approximately 10 different movies failed to develop brand synergy as a result of those disputes.
