  I can't make myself empathize with a story about an aging wealthy homosexual who, despite his overwhelming grief, somehow becomes the object of desire for all the side characters—namely, a hot twink student, a random hot Spanish twink, and a hot straight female friend. All these characters exist solely as emotional padding for the depressed protagonist. The scenes with Julianne Moore are the only joy for me. Her '60s makeup suits her so well.

  the worst film of a great director. beautifully filmed, but its content is disgusting. racism, xenophobia towards ukrainians, sexism. i'm surprised that this particular film is so idealized by russians. two stars instead of one only for visual performance and soundtrack
