Melissa McCarthy is hilarious, but her character in this film is inconsistent. She’s presented as some kind of cave woman in the beginning, yet she’s married to a very traditional, boring middle-upper class man. If "The Shape of Water" were a documentary, you'd have "My Octopus Friend." This is a fascinating, beautiful film about beating the odds and overcoming obstacles. Animals have so much to teach us.
