  what sort of joy is there for an aging and poor and lonesome and maladjusted person? this movie says "as much as you create". i love that his lifestyle does not preclude loneliness. it comes for all of us. but a big part of loneliness is the giving of affection as much as the recieving. and he expresses affection in other ways — doing his job well, taking care of his plants, being kind to strangers, appreciating the unique beauties…
