Classic fun and corny film. Has a lovely script with great dialogue between characters. Improbable science, familiar and harmless spiders, cheesy effects (all said affectionately). Bonus: the cats don't die. A+

Edited after receiving more context: Boy, do I not miss being a teenager with psychosis in the age of the Internet, susceptible to every conspiracy theory-loving pedophile out there.

Hysterically baffling with a budget of 75 cents. One of the sets is a "church" covered entirely in cardboard, complete with uneven, cardboard crucifixes and DeviantArt drawings of Jesus. The straight, homophobic antagonist is somehow the gayest man I've ever seen - complete with bleach blonde hair, multi-colour votive candles, and at least 3 cats. The soundtrack is no doubt a collection of royalty free music found online, but it somehow is also the best part of the movie.

Truly an asinine time with all the investment costs of a Happy Meal circa 2002. Highly recommend.

An extremely well done metaphor for the Japanese side of World War II. This movie balances its humans and their struggles post-war alongside Gojira's clear bomb/radiation symbolism very well.

Everything we see from the human characters is remarkably believable and rooted in reality. Survivor's guilt, a distrust of the government, feeling left behind by other nations, and a profound desire to do what's right despite all of it. All these factors string our characters together in a way that has…
