I find it's easy for biopics to end up a boring collection of scenes of the highlight reels of a person's life (see: Napoleon, Priscilla, and others). A Complete Unknown accomplishes what I think a great biopic should: a movie that could pass as just a great movie, even if you didn't know it were based on a real story or real person.

Edit: I started reading the reviews and had to add... thinking that depicting a terrible act is condoning it is a very singular and superficial way to consume media. Are we supposed to only enjoy movies in which the protagonists behave in morally correct ways? The contrary. You can't even raise the question about wrongness if you refuse to even touch the topic because evidently depicting it is equivalent to condoning it. That's obviously not true.
