Lots to process between the actual history and the movie itself. Seems like it was pretty accurate to history. Though it is tough to visualize the objective history in the context of a topic that is divisive largely due to differing beliefs about personal motivations and other unknowns.
I liked the story telling style. Little heavy on the slow-burning in the first half.

- Should our exploration of feminism be constrained in its depth in order to improve accessibility to a larger summer blockbuster audience?
- Are we concerned about the irony associated with Ken/Gosling being the driving storyline and source of entertainment in a film partially about feminism? Perhaps we can lean on Greta here.
- Who the fuck is Allan?

It’s less about the what-ifs, and more about how our constantly changing thoughts and identities can often be best captured not in memories or places, but in people and relationships.
It also speaks to longing and nostalgia as an emotion that can rival love, in terms of depth and power.
Can also argue this is a film about immigration above all else.
The magic here is that these notions are subtly elevated by how much they stand out, making “love” look almost pedestrian in its own love story.
Anyone else feeling the homage paid to Indiana Jones, Pineapple Express, and Stand By Me?
Probably not. But you also didn’t rate this movie 5 stars. But neither did I. What?
