Ken Russell's attempt at being sweet and charming, swinging his pendulum in the opposite of his previous film (The Devils). Worth a watch for the sets and costumes at the very least.

Directed with panache by Dorothy Arzner, WORKING GIRLS was adapted from the play Blind Mice, co-written by Vera Caspary and Winifred Lenihan, and itself adapted from Caspary's novel loosely based on her own experiences living in a Manhattan working girls' home, Music in the Street. Caspary also wrote the book and screenplay for LAURA, and shared writing credit with director Joseph L. Mankiewicz for the screenplay of A LETTER TO THREE WIVES.
