The movie starts bad, gets worse, and has only a few superficial commonalities with the comic book. The creature looks OK in a couple of shots (but mostly looks like a cheap, lazy attempt at producing something just good enough to be recognizably sourced from the comics).

I Am Legend 2007
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I Am Legend has some strengths and some weaknesses, and probably a lot of disagreement among viewers about which are which, but comes out relatively satisfying by the end largely on the strength of Will Smith's performance. I'd have preferred some trimming of the second act and a longer third act with changes and new dynamics brought about by the introduction of new characters. Although with Alice Braga's character's religiosity it could easily have just gotten really annoying. Braga is good, it's the character that might wear out their welcome quickly. CGI critters are ... adequate.

Rocco and His Brothers 1960
There is a lot of great filmmaking in "Rocco and His Brothers" and some great acting but I remained unconvinced of the core principle of the film; that Rocco would sacrifice love, happiness, and the woman he loves for a brother who is selfish, brutal, hateful, destructive, and ungrateful. The movie asserts the primacy of family above all in the most despicable way.
