Such a vibrant and lived-in snapshot of the time and place and people. It’s very funny and clever but I did tear up towards the end just because Cheryl’s mannerisms and earnestness reminded me so much of a specific friend I haven’t seen in a while and they’re both nice to just spend time with.

Charmed by these star-crossed slamdancing dirtbags but I would be so pissed off if some random guy at a metal show took the mic and started crooning.

Really appreciated how funny this is, definitely more on my wavelength than the other Lynch stuff I’ve seen. Hangdog Harry Dean Stanton 💔

Look, the tardigrade/isopod/ohmus from Nausicaä-type creature design is always going to be a slam dunk for me. A lot of the Ruffalo/Colette stuff was too broad and got old fast but otherwise I enjoyed Bong’s usual tonal blend and humor, and the goofy horniness was a pleasant surprise. Love that they have their own dumb Christian worship song. Most fantastical element of the whole film is the benevolent military authority intervening to do the right thing, lol.

Watched for ActionBoyz, worth it to watch Bronson lure one of the villains back to his hotel with the promise of a devil’s three way, lmao.

Oh and he has a special relationship with a fish (not a pet fish that lives in a tank but a wild fish that lives in the ocean) and there’s a shot from the fish’s POV in the water, looking up at Bronson. Cinema!
