Hands on a Hardbody: The Documentary 1997
The premise of the story is simple - keep your hands on the truck. It’s a simple idea that’s executed really well in the storytelling. As someone raised in Texas, I loved the snapshot of time this documentary provided from the hairstyles to truck culture.
Where the film excelled was in its character studies - the personal narratives, the internal psychological states, along with the strategies adopted by different contestants. There are a fair share of humorous moments throughout and despite it’s release in 1997 the story feels fresh and timeless to this day.
