The Godfather films regularly show gangsters being loving patriarchs and caring friends, but then they quickly shift to showing that these men regularly engage in great avarice and cruelty. These films also show that the spouses of these men trying to pretend that they do not know exactly how their husband affords them a luxurious lifestyle, but they know. Both of these points are arguably made even clearer in The Sopranos.

I remember hearing about Empire when I was little. I want to say it was on Jeopardy, but I am hardly positive. The idea of a moving picture show consisting of 8 hours of looking at a building was both entrancing and perplexing. What could be the point of it? Why would this exist? Barely grasping any of details of narrative features, I found the whole thing impenetrable.

Mystery Mister Ra has some tremendous music, but spends a little too much time on the philosophical musings of the titular Sun Ra. Don’t get me wrong, I believe Ra is from Saturn and all, it is just that if he is any indication, Saturnites aren’t nearly profound as they think they are.
I believe this would have been beyond delightful in 1878.
This was engaging, but I don’t think I learned anything new.
