A important film told masterfully. There’s a constant drumbeat you’ll hear in just about every scene in the first two thirds to constantly build tension and give you a sense of looming dread as this innocent family gets decimated. But having read the book prior to watching this film, I couldn’t help but feel that there was still too much left unsaid even with the lengthy run time. There’s an undertone of sadness and evil throughout the first half of the film that never fully resolves, perhaps to mirror the losses that will never see justice.

Parasite 2019
This movie is a masterpiece.
Every shot is expertly and perfectly framed, leading your eye where it wants to go and forcing you to focus on what’s coming up next. The set design is incredible; the main house and the basement locations are both custom designed to allow the characters to move you through them. The half basement particularly has a genuine feel with the cramped corners, the unique bathroom layout, the careful placement at the end of the road…

Musical Mondays #11
Maybe not quite a musical than a music movie, but the songs here are irrefutable, and it’s just fun hanging out with them.

Collateral 2004
Oh my GOD this movie is so good. Every single time something happened it was either a “oh I didn’t know we were doing THAT” or a “how did they think of THIS?” moment for me. Never lets up and some amazing set pieces that I can’t wait to revisit. And we got some top tier Tom Cruise running scenes.

Musical Mondays #1
I was inspired by Karsten’s Monkey Mondays and wanted to start my own challenge this year of watching a new musical every Monday. Starting it off with the best one.
