I’m honestly disappointed. I loved the first film and was excited for this one. But it felt like a movie that would have been direct-to-DVD in years gone by. The songs were… fine. Nowhere close to the incredible music of the first film. The plot was disjointed and sometimes hard to follow. Too many new characters were introduced too quickly. Although Rose Matafeo was a wonderful surprise; I had no idea she was in this and thought she was great.

Inside Out 2 2024
Not as impactful as the first film, but it was solid. They deftly handled anxiety and panic attacks in a way that I think worked for children and adults alike. My biggest complaint is the additions to the inner workings of the mind felt less cohesive than the original (e.g., the sar-chasm).

Continued our Christmas movie marathon. I forgot the extent to which this film copies the plot of the first one beat by beat. And just like the first one, it’s so ridiculous and slapstick, but it’s a fun family movie that even our youngest one enjoys.
