  A worthy, if not quite as horny successor to the original, David Bruckner’s Hellraiser plays with and expands Clive Barker’s mythology, mixing elements from the first two installments in the series to form a more coherent standalone film. While many recent franchise reboots suffer from over-exposition, if anything, the original Hellraiser series suffered from the opposite. Here, added details about the puzzle box, its powers and configurations, serve to add structure and tension to a story that would otherwise be formless.…
