David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived 2023
I cried during this, but more so because it was refreshing to watch a documentary that wasn’t fake or overly inspirational. The first part recaps David’s childhood, how he got into stunt work, and his time filming Harry Potter before transitioning to present day. David and his friends are vulnerable about the reality of his life including his frustration and appreciation. David is really honest about the stunt work resulting in his accident, how it sucks, and his medical needs now. Hearing Greg blame himself when David doesn’t breaks my heart.

I’ve never been hit by a bus going 70 mph but I imagine it would feel exactly like how I felt leaving the theater after this movie. I started silently crying probably no less than five minutes in and never really stopped.
