Current favorite for the past five years. Some controversy because of racist/sexist/ableist characters, but they're there for a reason. Charlie is not like them. He is the one trying to keep everybody in the neighborhood together and do right by them despite their lack of care for the world around them. Everything is devolving into shit and he turns his attention towards others. He cares for them more so than himself, revealing him to be one of the few goodhearted…

Problematic and old. Surprisingly enticing philosophies on vanity, capitalism, morality, and wonder which keeps the movie valuable. Watched because of the fortune teller scene sampled on the 1986 release "Teachers in Space" by Bay area band Feederz. An equally problematic project, but only towards the right people.
