During the real life footages quite a few people were sobbing in the darkness…. After going through all the trauma and loss, we were not allowed to mourn in public - only constrained outbursts of emotions in this safe dark space called cinema.

Different than what I expected - more talks about God than snow. But maybe there’s a lack of alternative when you are surrounded by snow.

Mr. Wiseman graced us with a post screening Q&A. He is as sharp and funny as he’s ever been, so sad that he’s no longer partaking in the sport called documentary film making.

The whole time I was thinking about how he’s the filmmaker version of Bilbo Baggins - he’s seen it all, remains wise and peaceful.

Also I need to start carrying a proper sharpie every time I go to a Q&A screening!

    Story - 1.5 stars

Adrien Brody’s acting, cinematography and scores- extra 1.5 stars

Not a dreadful watch for a 3.5 hour film including the intermission, but the second half of the movie’s narrative was giving driving on a shitty road dodging potholes the whole time. The epilogue didn’t do it for me either, like why giving me a grandiose spiel reflecting on someone’s life when the second half was the cliff notes ver of some previous chapters/episodes?

The accents could have also used more work- how did they come from Hungary with a generic Eastern European accent?
