A beautiful movie that otherwise falls short to impress me with its hollow exploration of life. This movie explores the female experience, but to any woman watching, it comes of quite shallow. The focus on prostitution and sex, with a juvenile character, made me have to pause and look away. As should it make everyone. I was hoping for a redeeming last act, but felt it fell short of making Bella have any agency at all. It left me with a feeling that she was just embarking into adulthood, with a baggage of sex work?
