Loved the premise! So unique and I’ve never seen anything quite like it. An homage to a culturally unsuccessful, countercultural director like Ed Wood. Through a slew of character actors and VERY popular personalities like Johnny Depp, Bill Murray, and Patricia Arquette tickled me pink.

4/5 for the idea alone. However, not sure I need to see it again for another ten years.

Solid movie fraught with nostalgia. However, this 2014 movie doesn’t hold up to 2025 standards.

With that being said Woodley and James have fantastic moments and should be proud of their involvement. Now let’s not talk about the next two- oof!

This movie does a disservice to the characterization (they BUTCHERED poor Sam, who the hell is Auramon, and poor Gollum is catching strays), the animation is truly the best and worst this about it (the best because now that it’s been done no one will ever dare attempt this live action/cartoon/sketch animation EVER again), and finally the fact this is a SPEED RUN of the original (RAPPING to hit that 2 1/2 time like come on now.)

Anyways the voice acting is okay, the sound is okay, and the plot is okay. So, here. Take your 1 1/2 stars!

    First the good things!
    1. The director did a fabulous job keeping to the original source material while putting a modern day spin on the cinematography.
    2. The soundtrack is random as hell but the orchestral music of modern pop hits is probably done better in this movie then any other one I’ve seen.

With that being said- it’s a good movie that has really great MOMENTS. The movie as a whole is a rushed, fast-paced fever dream. However, those five-six minute moments creates a really solid movie.

    3.5!
