I have many thoughts on this movie. Let me preface this by saying this movie did exceed my (low) expectations. Yet, I wouldn't call it anywhere close to Disney's magnum opus when it comes to live-action (if it even has one).

Let me start by saying this movie is 100% not for anyone under the age of at least 16. The topics dealt with are very teenage angst and dark, to be honest. Yet, it's a very fun watch, especially because the Broadway stars kill it, creating such hateable yet loveable characters throughout the film. I do think the ending was a bit sappy, and kinda wish there was a darker, more tone-appropriate ending. But overall, highly recommend.
I really don't know what to say about this one. The characters are fun, the songs carry the movie, and the whole movie just exudes direct from Broadway. It lacks a nuance I found, likely because it doesn't have the resources of a play like it was designed for, but it's still a fun watch that I highly recommend.
Oh boy. If On Stranger Tides dropped the ball, this one kicked the ball into its net. By far the worst film of the 5 Pirates movies. The villain, Salazar, pales in comparison to Davy Jones, Barbossa, and even Blackbeard. In addition, the characters besides Jack are just so unlikeable, and everything feels so stale. Compare this to the amazing sea fights we had in the first 3 movies, and you just leave feeling very disappointed.
