I am just in love with this era of filmmaking. LA/hollywood and San Francisco set films taking place in the 40’s -70’s are in a class by themselves. The city itself was the main co-star back then. The hills, architecture, landscaping, sunshine, ocean and costume design all working overtime to create the most wonderful aesthetic in all of filmdom. What a treat. An absolutely bombastic experience of sound and tension. Im not jumping on the ‘best since…’ bandwagon because thats all subjective. But ill say this, it was a treat to see these creatures again the way they were meant to be seen. Up close and in all their dripping glory. Or far away in silhouette. What a fantastic thriller from France this is. Fast paced, clever and with a nice payoff of an ending. America should take note that action thrillers dont have to end in a hail of gunfire for it to be satisfying. I put this up there with Tell No One as must see films
