The film’s attempt to adapt the unadaptable, simply removes all the layers that made the graphic novel unadaptable. What’s left behind is a SparkNotes of the novel’s most significant moments and imagery, but lacks the context necessary to make them significant. An adaptation that removes the attention to detail and depth that puts the source material above a typical “superhero story” inadvertantly has made itself just another superhero movie. Zack Snyder misundertands and ignores the message of the original story…
