Did not think I’d be starting out the year with my first 5 stars of a movie I missed from 2023 but here we are. Damn, this was so good.
I remember seeing a trailer for this at the theater and thinking wow that’s right up my alley. Very disappointed I didn’t get a chance to see this last year. Everything from the setting to the characters I loved so much. I don’t even know where to start but Paul…

Holy shit this movie was awesome. I haven’t seen much of the Toho Godzilla stuff but this has to be one of the best. Definitely better than any of the recent monsterverse films we’ve gotten.

This is the first time in any of these monster movies that I’ve cared about the human aspect and was actually rooting for them to defeat Godzilla. Never excepted a movie like this to have so much heart. The performances from the entire cast were…

I don’t think I realized how influential this movie was until finally seeing it. So much zombie media has taken inspiration from this and I can see why. So many good ideas here and themes that further the medium. And Cillian, great as always. Love him.

Man I was not expecting to love this as much as I did. I related so much to both of these characters and the story I felt struck the perfect balance of grief with instances of comedy.
The writing here was so well done and the performances from Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin were fantastic. Especially Kieran, he delivered so much emotion not just in his dialogue but in his face. I could see so much without him saying anything…

With amazing performances from Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, Everything Everywhere tells a great story about a mother reconnecting with her family and realizing her life has turned out a lot better than she thought.
Although amongst all its quirks and unique choices, not all of it landed for me. However between one of the most creative interpretations of the multiverse I’ve seen and action sequences that leave you in awe, I can’t think of a reason to not go see this one.

Overall an enjoyable sequel although very messy. Feels like there were a million things going on and nothing ever really came to a satisfying conclusion. The main plot wrapped up in the blink of an eye, it felt very rushed. Still, all the returning elements from the original like the music, stop motion, and just overall visual creativity carried over and was great. Michael Keaton doesn’t miss a beat, every time he was on screen it was so much fun. …
