  An excellent ascent of a first act with a slightly unsteady second; I can't help but feel it lost sight of itself after the intermission. However, it is fresh, towering ambition dressed to the nines by bold (and striking) cinematography and direction, score and performances (namely Brody and Pearce), production design...the list goes on. There is delightful style and direction here, even if the tightly-woven package starts to unravel towards the end.
