I watched this movie in anticipation for the second and was blown away. The CGI was incredible. It's so hard for sci-fi and superhero movies to be believable due to a mix of serviceable acting, bad writing and lazy editing. This movie somehow got it all right, and introduced all the (important) intricacies of this incredible world and story by Frank Herbert (now reading the book) in just under two and a half hours. It is a slow burn, but required to set up this work of love, from the technical crew to the actors, that will certainly keep fire past Part II.

Godzilla: King of Monsters was as serviceable monster movie as someone unfamiliar with the Kong/Godzilla movies and their respective lore.
