The Tender Bar 2021
This movie tries so hard to be a classic and fails miserably. It probably should have tried to be a slice of life picture - but it doesn’t even make the grade for that. My guess — and it’s only a guess - is that this kid was supposed to be gathering all of life’s wisdom from the various characters he meets at the bar. And his supposed philosophical Uncle Charlie. Not one character in this story is developed…

Into the Wild 2007
I am of the belief that sometimes movies find you. Stuck in a hotel room on business and nothing on TV. This film comes on — storyline Man Vs Nature — which usually has me reaching for the remote. But then I see the cast credits and it piques my interest. How are they going to squeeze these people in to a Man Vs Nature film. Ah yes. Flashbacks. Should have guessed. But the Actors do not disappoint. Especially Hirsch and Holbrook —

Stand Up Guys 2012
I really thought after the first 15 mins this was going to be another Pacino phone it in performance — but then just like that this film became interesting. Loved the chemistry between Walken and Pacino. Then Alan Arkin shows up and it gets even better. Enjoyable silly little movie with big talent. Solid supporting cast.
