  Penultimo film di Jean-Pierre Melville. 
  Un noir dai toni crudi che rivoluzionerà il modo di fare cinema poliziesco per sempre (tanti registi gli rendono omaggio tra cui Tarantino e John Woo e Kitano). 
  Il film ha un alto impatto visivo, la fotografia stupenda è coerente con lo stile narrativo e il dialogo minimalista: spiccano il blu e il grigio nelle scene notturne. 
  La citazione "Tous les hommes, Mr. Mattei" è la rappresentazione perfetta del cerchio rosso menzionato nell'introduzione, nel mondo melvilliano tutti gli uomini sono uguali e imperfetti.

  Too much dialogue and music, it feels forced and exaggerated. Another issue is that there are two important characters (Jean, Kitty) poorly written and not introduced properly.
  I liked the explosion scene and I feel that it should’ve been the climax of the movie.
