Wild at Heart 1990
First time seeing this ever (also, the first film added to my Watchlist!) and it didn’t disappoint. So many great lines and usual suspects from DL’s orbit (even Dell Mibbler from TP!).
There is something about the wandering dialog between Marietta and Johnnie Farragut that definitely seems analogous to The Amputee and Audrey/Charlie in The Return.
A part of The Belcourt’s David Lynch Retrospective.

The Amputee 1974
Was reading that they couldn’t film w/ sync sound so everything was Foley’d on the spot live to picture.
The Amputee opened for Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me at The Belcourt’s David Lynch Retrospective.

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me 1992
Seeing this in an art deco red velvet curtained theater was an absolute joy. I’ve also realized that I’ve previously neglected David Lynch’s focus on sound design. Hearing all of FWWM’s details and the dynamics and the ominous whooshings makes it all the more terrifying.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit 1988
Came for the nostalgic watch, stayed for the very searing critique of capitalism, the darker, destructive nature of “progress,” and the working class groups marginalized because of that very progress.
