Fifth time seeing this and still my favorite movie of all time. No other movie has surpassed this for me visually, emotionally, stylistically or in any other way so far. And wim winders is still creating bangers, true goat.

aftersun has a very warm and melancholic ambience throughout, yet there’s a relentless sense of despair in the subtext that slowly creeps on you until it all hits you at some point in the latter half. For me that moment happened during the karaoke scene, after which the movie became progressively more and more devastating until it reached an ending that will really sit with me, and the majority of people who watch/watched this, for a long time. Genuinely one of the saddest movies I’ve seen and such a profoundly impressive directorial debut
